I built up a wall to protect my heart
I thought if I tore it down for you, I’d be ok
It just seems like it’ll always be the same
You can’t promise what’s impossible
Eventually, we're going to crash and burn
And it’s going to hurt.
But wounds were not made to last
But the scars that are left behind
They will be a reminder of the past
That I’ve left behind
I’m tired of the tears
I’m tired of the pain
When will it end
When will it go away
They say it’s only for a season
But this season has been around way too long
Blocked up my heart so that I wouldn't fall apart
Finally, I opened up about what was weighing heavily on my mind
Slowly that wall is coming down again
We decide to put up these walls
Its a defense mechanism to protect our hearts
We're tired of being knocked down and being shattered into pieces
Some will just leave the pieces for us to put back together ourselves
This makes it worse
The wall gets rebuilt
Although bad it can also make us stronger
Why would I let you in again?
Will I break down again?
I want to make sure I can trust you
My heart was filled with so much fire and passion
Until one day it was dimmed
My heart is broke once again
We all have fears, we all shed tears,
We all have scars, we all have built up a wall to protect ourselves
My wall is my safe space
What’s your safe space?
